Excerpt from The Last Mountain web site:
In the valleys of Appalachia, a battle is being fought over a mountain. It is a battle with severe consequences that affect every American, regardless of their social status, economic background or where they live. It is a battle that has taken many lives and continues to do so the longer it is waged. It is a battle over protecting our health and environment from the destructive power of Big Coal.
Please encourage your students to attend the screening and the panel discussion. Slips can be signed if needed.
The film will be shown in Greer Auditorium beginning at 7PM. A panel discussion will follow. Admission is free. The film is sponsored by the Renewable Energy Initiative and the Belk Library & Information Commons.
We are pleased to announce the organizations present for the panel discussion:
More details about this year's film series are online at

The purpose of this film series is to raise awareness of current issues relating to sustainability and to help provide solutions. Each film will be followed by a panel discussion with local activists, community leaders, academics and students that will answer questions and discuss ways of personally getting involved on the local, national, and international level.
